Description

During the User-Centered Design Workshop at Polimi, we tried to conceptualize a way of visualizing the difference between House and Home, through a qualitative DataViz process. Our goal was to grasp and represent the very own essence of a concept that cannot be quantified: belonging.

To do so we developed A Home Story, a platform composed of a Smart Doormat that records the footprints of people going in and out of the house, and a website in which the user can visualize the entire sequence of said footsteps, or just focus on one single frame.

Through the frames, the person can experience his memories from a different perspective, the point of view of the house. The story gradually unfolds, making the user feel the transition from “house” to “home”.
